Division One coaches, I have another unsigned diamond in the rough for you. Over the years the D1 Nation has helped a number of VERY VERY good players get the exposure required to earn a late scholarship offer. I don't put my stamp on guys lightly.
Over the years we've had some unsigned doozies such as D.J. Stephens (Memphis), George King (Colorado) and Andre Roberson (Oklahoma City Thunder). This spring I'd like to introduce Jacob Harvey from Somerset, TX. Somerset is a smaller town south of San Antonio but Harvey stands tall. In fact he's just a hair under 6'11" and he's still only 17. You can view his videos below. He's got excellent timing as a shot blocker, has a soft touch and runs the floor well for a young big.
He's got very good academics and if he's not gobbled up this spring, then he'll come out of prep school as a high major prospect in in 2019. He'll have a year of maturity and an extra 20 lbs of muscle which will make him a problem to deal with.
Jacob will be playing in the spring with the New Mexico D1 Ambassadors unsigned senior squad which also features 2018 6'9" book end Michael Ou (Albuquerque, NM/Menaul). They will play both weekends in Dallas, TX first at Bigfoot Hoops Dallas Live and then at the Great American Shootout. This will make seeing new Mexico D1 a must see for their unsigned seniors as well as the other age divisions in the organization.
New Mexico Director Malik Waters has done a great job of assembling quality rosters for this April. See you in Dallas.-Coach Ivany
