D1 Nation Alumni Report November 30th-December 1st

Saturday, November 30th

The New Mexico Lobos ran their record to 5-1 as junior post (At left) Alex Kirk (Los Alamos, NM) had 16 points/11 rebounds/4 blocks in a win over San Diego. The Colorado Buffaloes ran their record to 7-1 as sophomore post Josh Scott (Monument, CO/Lewis-Palmer) had 16 points/13 rebounds in a resounding win over Air Force.  In a loss to Yale, junior forward Mark Nwakamma had 15 points/9 rebounds/2 assists/2 steals for Hartford.  Colorado State junior transfer forward J.J. Avila (McAllen, TX) is quickly becoming a fan favorite of the folks in Fort Collins, CO as he had 29 points/6 rebounds including the game winning layup with 2 seconds remaining to beat New Mexico State. 

Texas A&M sophomore guard J. Mychal Reese (Bryan, TX) had 11 points in the Aggies win over SMU. Houston Cougars junior forward Ta'Shawn Thomas (Killeen, TX) had 14 points/4 rebounds in their win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  Junior wing Jaleel Williams (Killeen, TX/Ellison) had 14 points/8 rebounds for San Jose State in their loss to Weber State. Junior forward Seth Gearhart (Wilsonville, OR) had 15 points/6 assists for Rice as they nipped Santa Clara 67-66.

Sunday, December 1st

(At left: Brickman) Loyola (IL) sophomore guard Devon Turk (Houston, TX/Westbury Christian) had 10 points/3 rebounds in their OT loss to Mississippi State. Long Island-Brooklyn senior PG Jason Brickman (San Antonio, TX/Clark) continues to climb the NCAA's all time assists rankings as he had 12 points and dropped 14 dimes in a win over Norfolk State. LSU senior guard Shavon Coleman (Thibodeaux, LA) had 12 points in the Bayou Bengals 70-68 win over Butler. 

Baylor crushed Hardin-Simmons behind senior Cory Jefferson (Killeen, TX) who had 16 points/10 rebounds and sophomore forward Rico Gathers (Laplace, LA) who added 17 points/9 rebounds.  What the heck is Baylor doing, scheduling Hardin-Simmons in December???  College of Charleston sophomore guard Canyon Barry (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain) had 14 points in a win over Cal State Fullerton. In the "Did you know" department, Canyon is the son of NBA Hall of Famer, Rick Barry.
