Here's hoping everyone had a healthy and Merry Christmas, with a better 2021 ahead for all.  High school basketball has resumed in the Lone Star State with the boys playing one game vs Canadian and the girls playing twice, vs Bushland and Wilderado. This will be my last report prior to the New Year.

Clarendon Boys 70 Canadian 44

This one was a contest in the 1st quarter only as the score stood at 20-15 for the Broncos. From that point forward Canadian were outscored 50-29 to finish with the lopsided 70-44 score.

Clarendon received balanced scoring from their Big 4 as Sophomore Jmaury Davis and Senior Donovan Thompson had 18 a piece, while Junior Cayden D'Acosta and Sophomore Sylvester Ballard each netted 14.  Amazingly there were no three pointers and the Broncos were 10-19 from the charity stripe.

Bushland 44  Lady Broncos  41

This was an excellent game and challenge for Clarendon as Bushland had a 6'1" post player.  Clarendon played good team defense to keep this one close all the way through. In fact if they had converted their free throws at a better clip (17-29/58%) and star senior Jade Benson hadn't been saddled with foul trouble all game the outcome could have tilted in favor of the Lady Broncos.

As it was, Sophomore Finley Cunningham led the way with 14 points, including three 3 pointer. while Junior Madison Smith and Benson added 11 a piece.

Clarendon 52  Wilderado 36

Clarendon jumped all over 1A Wilderado early, which allowed Coach Korey Conkin to go deep into her bench, especially in the 4th quarter as they coasted to the victory. Senior Jade Benson had 16 to lead the way followed by 12 from Jentrye Bellar.  The Lady Broncos start District play vs always tough Panhandle on New Year's Day.
