Over the years the D1 Nation has championed young student athletes in many different sports who've gone on with a little (or a lot) of help from us in obtaining a college scholarship.
It's been my life's work and the relationships that have been built with college coaches over almost 30 years has been a blessing to me and my family. How well respected is Max Ivany's D1 Nation? Well, we've had countless high school and college coaches bring their sons to me for their club basketball experience.
Some of the bigger names have been Wayne Tinkle (Oregon State), Noodles Neal (New Mexico), Indiana Hoosiers legend Steve Alford (UCLA & now Nevada), now retired Texas A&M Associate AD Mike Caruso (Alex Caruso of the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers), Del Demps (former GM of the New Orleans Pelicans), Rob Lanier (Georgia State) and Brad Underwood (Illinois) just to name a few. All entrusted their children to me.
As much as I value the relationships with the college and high school coaches, it's the relationship with the players and their families which I cherish most. I made a promise many many years ago that I'd follow every game of a player's career that went on to play Division One who came through our club system, the D1 Ambassadors.
With over 300 players who've played at the Division One level, as well as 15 NBA and 2 NFL players, that's quite a legacy. It's become a daunting task to check box scores EVERY DAY during the season to pay them their dues on the game the evening before.
It has been my pleasure and with the beginning of the 2020-21 College Hoops season I wanted to pay respects to the D1 Nation's Alumni group of players for this new season. For the 2020-21 season we have 16 active alumni playing at the D1 level. Best of luck and good health his season, gentlemen!
