Canyon's Randall High School must feel like home to Clarendon as the Broncos have won their playoff warm up game there, and then last night followed up with a sound thumping of Farwell in the Area Championship, winning 69-48.

Coach Conkin's squad seems to be hitting their stride at the right time and that's a good thing they'll need to be firing on all cylinders in this coming Tuesday's match up with Gruver who hung up a hundred points in their playoff win.

Farwell wasn't a bad team. If they were allowed to run their offense perhaps they could have been somewhat effective. But Coach Conkin was having none of that as he picked up full court and pressured from the jump.  Farwell's guards wanted no part of that as they were in a state of panic time and again.  Clarendon had to have forced close to 30 turnovers.

This was as complete a game as I've seen them play this season.  Their defense was smothering and they only committed 9 turnovers the entire game.  Clarendon typically faces two bugaboos and they're self inflicted. One is foul trouble and the other is mediocre free throw shooting.

Last night they hit for a season high 80% from the line, going 12-15.  an aggressive team like the Broncos will pick up fouls, that's part of the trade off for the style which can cause so many turnovers, but they spread them out between their 7 man rotation so nobody was in dire straits for the majority of the game.

Senior Jamal Butler finished with 16 points/10 rebounds/3 blocks.  Sophomore PG Lamarcus Peniger had 14 points, and Freshman Sylvester Ballard chipped in with 15.

Freshman Jmaury Davis had 12 points.  It was his breakaway slam early in the 3rd quarter that tore Farwell's heart out.  Their body language changed completely after that as did Clarendon's who were smirking and smiling after Jmaury yammed on that Farwell player.
