2022 Jaxon Willis

Crane (TX) High School

Talk about sophomore sensations!  Jaxon Willis has taken the reins of the Crane Golden Cranes’ offense in recent weeks and last week put up some phenomenal numbers in their 56-7 win over the Stanton Buffaloes.

Willis completed just over 63 % of his passes completing 12 of 19 attempts for 570 yards.  He threw 4 TD passes and had 1 interception.  Willis also rushed for another score in leading the #10 ranked Golden Cranes to a win last Friday.

He has thrown for 1,497 yards on the season and thrown for 12 TD’s.

Willis and his mates will face a tough opponent this week as Crane (5-0) travels to face the Ozona Lions (5-1).

2021 De’shon Goodley Rankin (TX)

2021 De’shon Goodley

Rankin (TX) High School

Much of the 5-0 start for the Rankin Red Devils this year can be attributed to the play of junior athlete, De’shon Goodley.

Goodley had a stellar performance in their 60-46 victory over the Class 1A Garden City Bearkats. The Bearkats reached last year’s semifinals before bowing out to eventual state champion, McLean.

Last Friday, Goodley finished the game with 187 yards rushing. He threw for 124 yards, caught three passes for 62 yards and scored six TD’s.  Defensively, Goodley intercepted a pass and returned it for a pick six.

2021 Trey Cross Greenwood (TX)

2021 Trey Cross

Greenwood (TX) High School

For the second time this season, junior running back Trey Cross has been chosen as a D1 Nation West Texas Football Player of the Week.

Cross was unstoppable last week in leading the #4-ranked, Class 4A, Division II team in the state, the Greenwood Rangers, to a 52-28 victory on the road in their District 2-4A opener against the Sweetwater Mustangs.

The 5’8”, 160 pound Cross had 17 touches for 300 yards and scored three touchdowns in the game. All three touchdowns were in the first quarter of the game as he scored from 30 yards and followed that up with two and 18 yard scampers for scores.

Cross will lead Greenwood (5-0) into this week’s matchup when they host the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes.
