The New Mexico D1 Ambassadors 17U team meant business coming out of the gate this spring. They went 16-4 in the 4 major events they entered. They were at Ron Coleman's Main Event in Phoenix, Prep Hoops in Denver and Dallas, and then the Great American Shootout in Dallas, TX as well. They played in two championship games, losing one in OT and notched the consolation chip in two others.
The name that keeps coming up over and over for New Mexico D1 was that of 2020 PG Ricky Lujan (Las Cruces, NM). He's got all the tools. He's crafty, intelligent, a leader, a ball handler, a passer and he can shoot it. He's got a chance to be really really good.
7 footer (Somerset, TX) prepped at Gervin Academy this past season and he's now ready to help a Division One program. He's a disruptive force defensively and he runs the floor well for a young big man. He's got to fall in love with the weight room, but I believe he will. He's motivated.
